Rolex presented today the new 2021 generations of its Explorer and Explorer II models. At 36 mm, the new Oyster Perpetual Explorer returns to the size of the original model launched in 1953, just after the first ascent to the summit of Mount Everest by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay on 29 May that year wearing their Explorer watches. The new-generation Explorer is released in Oystersteel as well as in yellow Rolesor (combining Oystersteel and 18 ct yellow gold).
Among other novelties like the new Submariner and the new Oyster Perpetual 41 mm and 36 mm models, Rolex presented a new 18 ct yellow gold version of its Oyster Perpetual Sky-Dweller, fitted with an Oysterflex bracelet. This watch is the first in the Classic category to include this innovative bracelet made of high-performance elastomer. The 42 mm Oyster case frames a bright black, sunray-finish dial with hands and hour markers in yellow gold. The hands and hour markers are coated or filled with the Chromalight luminescent material that emits a long-lasting blue glow in dark conditions.
